Micro teaching is also a link of same, in which various teaching skills are practiced through micro-teaching. So that student-teacher can going to school do judicious teaching. function of micro-teaching is to make teaching successful by simplifying complex process of education.
Micro-teaching method emphasizes dexterity and refutes ancient concept of 'teachers are congenital' and insists on concept that teachers are not only congenital but can also be made.

Teaching technology insists on the fact that teachers should teach effectively. For this reason, many techniques are being used today to improve teacher behavior. Micro teaching is also such a technique through which effective teaching skills are developed in student-teachers.

According to D. W. Allen, "Micro teaching is a scaled dawn teaching encounter in class size and class time."
According to Bush, "A teacher education technique which allow teacher to apply elderly defined teaching skills to carefully prepared lessons in a planned series of 5 to 10 minutes with a small group of real student offer with an opportunity to observe the result on video type."
Note : Human observers are recommended instead of video in Indian conditions.
According to Clift and others, “Micro teaching is a training process which reduce the teaching situation to a simpler and more controlled and encounter achieved by limiting the practice teaching to a specific skill and reducing time and size”.
According to pack and tucker, "Micro teaching is a combination of a concepted system for identifying precisely specific teaching skills with the use of video type feedback to facilitate growth in the teaching skills."

On basis of above definitions of micro-teaching, meaning of micro-teaching becomes clear that in fact, each skill is divided into small units and each one is trained in detail in micro-teaching. For them it is a training method in which complexities of teaching are limited i.e. only one teaching skill is practiced at a time.

1. To make education world aware of innovations happening in field of teacher education so that trainee can organize teaching skills in a short time with confidence.
2. Through micro-teaching, instead of actual students, classmates become students of class, so that colleges do not have to depend on any school. To get rid of this trouble, micro-teaching is needed.
3. Micro-teaching helps in simplifying complexities inherent in teaching and efficiency can be acquired in each skills in less time. In this form, both time and energy are saved, due to which micro-teaching is essential for colleges.
4. need for micro-teaching is also in such a way that it gives a scientific nature to training program. teacher can use video tapes etc. while teaching and with this he can rectify drawback in his teaching by re-practicing.
5. Through micro-teaching, teachers get instant feedback, so micro-teaching is necessary in making of skilled teachers and in development of skills related to teaching profession.
6. In micro-teaching, teacher is given an opportunity to practice in order to acquire proficiency in one skill at a time and teacher keeps on practicing till teacher acquires that skill at his own pace. In this form, micro-teaching is required to achieve proficiency in teaching.
In short, there is a great need of micro teaching for a teacher to bring qualitative improvement in his teaching.
• Concept of Micro Teaching
Micro-teaching is a concept that can be used to promote professional development of both pre-service and in-service teachers.
Micro-teaching was introduced in 1961 by Keith Echinson, a research scholar at Stanford university. In which it was thought that if the text taught by the student-teachers is shown again with help of VCR, then it will give feedback to both student-teacher and supervisor and in this way required improvement can be brought in teaching.
Micro-teaching system was considered effective to bring effectiveness in teaching-learning process and to teach skills to them.
Classroom teaching is a complex process in which the teacher has to use many skills. In micro-teaching, teacher reduces complexity of teaching by working together, miniaturizing different aspects of teaching, i.e. practicing different skills. In this, student-teacher gets instant feedback on her teaching. In this, the duration of text is reduced and the area of text is also narrowed.
Similarly, allen has called micro-teaching as 'descending learning mode'. Micro-teaching is an innovation in the field of training of student-teachers, which makes them aware of how their teaching has been done at the end of their lesson, as they get immediate feedback.

1. Real Teaching
Although micro teaching takes place in an artificial situation, yet it contains real teaching, because student-teacher reads and teaches the actual curriculum in a realistic way. Further, it is also true that content of the curriculum is often less important than skill learning.
2. Reduction complexity of teaching
In micro-teaching, complexities of simple classroom teaching are reduced, that is, size of class, content, timing, role and skills are all reduced to such a degree that trainees are in control. They practice only one skill at a time, reducing the complexities of general learning.
3. Development of specific teaching skills
In micro teaching focus is on learning of a specific teaching skill i.e. practicing a particular teaching skill at a time. Its main focus can be training, practice, demonstration, etc. to complete a specific task.
4. Micro Teaching Cantrols Practice
While conducting micro-teaching, practice activities are controlled in pre-planned manner. Monitoring and practice can be controlled by providing feedback to student-teachers. In this way unwanted exercise activities can be controlled and adjusted.
5. Various means of feedback
Feedback can be given in micro-teaching through many means.
For example, immediately after teaching a micro lesson, that teaching task is analyzed, criticized, it develops insights and gives feedback to the student-teachers. Feedback can be provided to them by using tape recorder, by producing a video film, or by an inspector. In this, aspect of feedback and knowledge of result are kept in mind.
It means that discussing teaching of student-teacher, feedback is provided to them by showing or telling their drawbacks or goodies so that they can improve further in future.
